Hypnosis for children is a gentle and collaborative process. Just like with adults, a child must be willing and open to the experience—curiosity and a desire to participate are essential.
In practical terms, this also means the child should be at an age where they can:
For most children, this tends to be around ages 7 to 12, although readiness can vary slightly by individual.
At this stage, children often integrate new, positive suggestions even more quickly than adults, and parents may begin to notice positive shifts in behavior, emotional responses, and confidence — sometimes even after the first session.
Parental influence plays a significant role in a child’s patterns and behaviors — often more than is immediately recognized.
The language used at home, the tone of communication, and the beliefs expressed (both directly and indirectly) all contribute to how a child sees themselves and responds to the world. In some cases, the behaviors a parent is hoping to shift may be unintentionally reinforced through everyday interactions.
For hypnosis to be effective and lasting, it’s important that the environment around the child supports the changes being made. This may involve becoming more aware of communication patterns and making small but meaningful adjustments.
For this reason, I sometimes recommend that parents consider their own session as well. This is not about blame, but about creating alignment — so the child is supported consistently both during and outside of our work together.
A parent or guardian is required to be present during each session to ensure a safe and supportive experience
Important Considerations
AIs Hypnosis Right for Your Child?
Every child is unique. Before beginning, I recommend a discovery call to better understand your child’s needs, goals, and overall environment. This allows us to determine whether hypnosis is the right fit and to identify any external factors that may influence the outcome.
When approached thoughtfully, hypnosis can be a powerful and supportive tool—helping children build confidence, shift unhelpful patterns, and develop a stronger, more positive sense of themselves.
